Gardening & Farm Fest 2025 took place on Sunday, April 13, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Downtown Library, offering a public, daylong event focused on gardening, farming, and sustainability.
Gardening & Farm Fest 2025 took place on Sunday, April 13, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Downtown Library, offering a public, daylong event focused on gardening, farming, and sustainability. Artisans, farmers, and representatives from local farms were present in the first-floor lobby to sell products and promote Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs. There were onsite opportunities to learn about and register for spring and summer CSA shares.

The event included three feature presentations on plant care and sustainable growing. At 12:00 PM, Lisa Steinkopf ("The Houseplant Guru") presented “Bloom: The Secrets of Growing Flowering Houseplants Year Round”, addressing care tips for species like African violets, peace lilies, cacti, and succulents. At 1:15 PM, Darla Kroft discussed “Discovering and Growing Underutilized, Native, and Unique Culinary Plants,” sharing her personal growing experiences and insights into underrepresented edible flora. At 2:30 PM, the homesteader behind 1991greenery Homestead presented “Roots & Remedies: Herbal Homesteading,” discussing the use of homegrown herbs in body products and offering free echinacea seeds to attendees.
Concurrent activities included: A Seed Swap from 12:00 to 3:00 PM in the Multi-Purpose Room, allowing attendees to exchange or freely collect flower, vegetable, herb, and bulb seeds. A Shadow Box Craft Workshop from 12:00 to 3:00 PM in the Secret Lab, providing materials and instruction for making paper-based decorative boxes with wooden frames.
Informational tables from local organizations and non-profits were available throughout the day, offering community resources related to gardening, environmental education, and sustainable living.
