India's biggest domestic airline carrier IndiGo's prent company, Interglobe aviation recieved an INR 944.2 crore tax penalty for the assessment year 2021-22. The company claims the order as "erroneous" and plans to challenge it legally.

Indigo insisted that the penalty will not affect its financials, business activities or other operations significantly. Indigo is already in a tough financial position after a reported decline of Q3 FY25 net profits (2998.1 cr INR last year vs 2448.8 cr INR this year), attributed to rising operational costs (+20%). However, Indigo remains India's largest airline with a whipping 64.6% market share.
