The Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) comprising of Russian, German, French and American authorities have published the final report of Aeroflot RRJ-95B accident investigation. On 5th May 2019, at 18:30 local time (15:30 UTC), an aeroflot RRJ-95B RA-89098 aircraft carrying 78 occupants including 73 passengers and 5 crew members was enroute from Sheremetyevo (UUEE) to Murmansk airport (ULMM). After six minute into the flight, the aircraft was struck by lightning causing the aircraft flight control systems to switch to 'DIRECT MODE'. This means that all inputs by the pilots are directly sent to the control surfaces without any computer assisted corrections or protections. During landing, the plane bounced multiple times (porpoising) because the captain made sudden, large movements with the control stick. These actions cause three hard landings, and on the second and third impact, the forces where much greater than what the aircraft was designed to handle. This led to serious daange, fuel tank rupture, and eventually a fire, resulting in loss of lives.
